"Mommy, can we please have more Churn on our pancakes?" my daughter pleads with me. Okay, maybe she didn’t say please, but she requested a specific brand of butter, which might be a first.

The butter she was begging for was Maple & Cinnamon Churn, a delicious mashup of grass-fed butter, maple syrup, cinnamon, and sea salt. It has become part of our typical Sunday morning routine as a topper for homemade pancakes.

It’s also just one of the many flavors of butter that Michael Tashman is literally churning out, as part of his global butter movement.

The Founder and CEO of Churn Foods attended both Japanese and French culinary schools, then worked in fine dining for over a decade. After recognizing the importance of butter and how it is often misunderstood, he left the restaurant world to disrupt the butter category, founding Churn Foods in 2020.

While my kids favor the sweet side of Churn, I’ve been using their Miso Butter on everything from soba noodles to stir-fry veggies.
