After the "I dos" have been said and the wedding cake has been cut, for many couples, a name change is sure to follow. However, according to one study, more grooms are breaking with tradition and taking their wives' last name.

A new study published by the London Mint Office says that one in ten men are opting to take their bride's last name. So if you are thinking of buying a set of monogrammed towels for the happy couple, you might want to ask what their new initials will be.

According to The Telegraph, over 2,000 couples were surveyed for the study and researchers reported that 72 percent of the millennial married couples said they adopted the husband's last name after getting married. That number is down from the 97 percent of couples in the study that were over the age of 55. The study also found that 11 percent of newlyweds agreed to use the double-hyphenated name as a compromise.

The study was inspired by the upcoming 70th wedding anniversary between Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip. After their marriage in 1947, the newly crowned queen of England announced she would not be taking her new husband's name of Mountbatten but would be keeping her name of Windsor.

Couples taking the bride's last name as the new family name is also a growing trend in Hollywood. Actress Zoe Saldana revealed her husband Marco Perego took her last name after tying the knot. It's long been rumored that Jay-Z took Beyonce's last name when they got married in 2008, and while this hasn't been confirmed, some news outlets report he is legally known as Shawn Knowles-Carter.
