Fit Pregnancy With 90 Day Fiance's Paola
We caught up with Paola to hear how her journey to motherhood is going so far.
How are you feeling?
I'm feeling great, I thought it was going to be hard but I haven't had much nausea, or crazy cravings. I do feel a little tired and short of breath as I'm easily fatigued at times but that doesn't stop me from keeping with my normal routine! I feel like having a healthy routine has helped me a lot as I continue with all these my body and mood changes.
What do you eat on a given day?
Before I got pregnant I started my vegetarian journey again, as I did a year ago--and now that I'm pregnant I feel the need to continue with the same diet. I like to eat beans, grains, nuts, protein shakes, etc. I also have my cheat meal or cheat day! I love cheese and pineapple pizza, and at least once a month I get to eat one medium by myself without feeling guilty!
What is your fitness routine now that you are pregnant?
I normally get up at 5:00 am to go for a run, and that is apparently the time my little one asks for food! I make breakfast for me and Russ and then I go to the gym to do resistance training, I love lifting weights and that hasn't changed much since I got pregnant. I keep working out as usual, I'm doing more repetitions and less weight. I listen to my body, I normally go to the gym 5 times a week but if I feel tired I just take a break and a delicious cheat meal! During the day I'm working on new programs for my website as I'm training people online. I want to focus on helping others to reach their fitness goals as I did and keep doing!
What is your advice for other pregnant women who want to follow a fitness routine?
Having a healthy pregnancy and feeling great with yourself brings about great benefits. I not only train to look fit, I train to feel good and to feel strong, all of which gives me more energy. The benefits of training throughout my pregnancy has helped me with my posture, headaches, and I really do feel more active. Of course, you don't need to wait until you are pregnant to start your fitness journey! Starting a fitness routine before pregnancy is important so that you aren't adding any additional stress to your normal routine.
