The Social Security Administration just updated their records of the most popular names for babies born in the United States, and the list is very telling of naming trends during a year of such uncertainty. While we love when parents use inspiration from their lives to choose a name for their baby, we are very relieved that new names like "Quarantine" or "Social Distance" didn’t pop up on this list.

"It appears parents chose to stick with the familiar during an unprecedented time, with the top three names for both girls — Olivia, Emma, and Ava — and boys — Liam, Noah, and Oliver — remaining the same for the second year in a row," the agency said.

Another traditional boy name — Henry — made a leap in popularity and is making an appearance on this "most popular" list for the first time in almost a century. Here are some other names had a significant climb in popularity, even if they didn’t make the "most popular" list. For boys, Zyair, Jaxtyn, Jakobe, and Kylo climbed up the popularity list from previous years. For girls, Avayah, Denisse, Jianna, and Capri saw the largest increase in popularity.

On the flip side, these names saw the greatest drop in popularity. For boys, Vivaan, Alexzander, Javion, Reyansh, and Kenny topped the dropped list. For girls, Yaritza, Marissa, Annabella, Aridane, and Jade were the names that saw the biggest fall.

However, some names stayed put on the popularity list and didn’t move very much. Names like Alistair, Nikolas, Braylen, and Desmond for boys — and Malaya, Avah, Liberty, and Emmie saw little to no change in popularity for girls.

If you are looking for baby name inspiration or you want to know where your child’s name falls on the list, you can find the full rundown on the SSA’s website. You can even search by state to check out the naming trends in your hometown.

So what are the most popular names? Here is the SSA’s official top ten lists for boys and girls born in the United States.
