Remember These Wild Relationship Dealbreakers?
Some are bumps in the road while others are cautionary tales. Take a trip down memory lane and relive some of the franchise's most unforgettable red flag moments from our couples.
Fighting in Front of the Kids
On 90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 Days Season 2, Darcey wanted Jesse and her daughters, Aspen and Aniko, to enjoy a nice family meal together. Unfortunately, things took a turn when the couple butted heads in the kitchen. Jesse wanted to help cook, but Darcey urged him to cut the steak on a bias, which was how her kids preferred it. Tensions boiled over and they got into it in front of Aspen and Aniko. It was a top contender for the most awkward meal in 90 Day Fiance history.
Making an Ex Jealous
During the fifth season of 90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 Days, Jasmine found out that Gino sent her private photos to his ex. Jasmine confronted Gino about it and eventually, he came clean, admitting that he wanted to make his ex jealous. He said his intention was to show his ex "how hot my new girlfriend is," but instead, he broke Jasmine's trust.
Catfishing
Jenny and Sumit shared their experience on the first season of 90 Day Fiance: The Other Way. When Sumit first met Jenny online, he was working at a call center using the name Michael Jones. As the two grew closer, Jenny asked "Michael" why he didn't have a profile picture. So, Sumit updated his profile with a photo of another man to go along with his alias. After four months, Sumit developed feelings for Jenny and told her the truth. He dropped the Michael Jones act and revealed that his real name was Sumit. He sent over photos of himself as well. Jenny admitted that she cried when he told her the truth. Although catfishing is a red flag, Jenny and Sumit were able to work past it and create a beautiful relationship together.
Using Your Partner
Miss Debbie felt completely blindsided by Oussama on Season 4 of 90 Day Fiance: The Other Way. Miss Debbie arrived in Morocco after deciding to move there, but Oussama let her know that he had other plans. Oussama wanted to move to the United States with Miss Debbie so he could have a successful art career and make a lot of money. This was news to Miss Debbie because Oussama never mentioned that plan until now. She questioned Oussama's intentions, felt that he was only focused on what he wanted, and believed that he was using her to get a visa.
Controlling Appearances
On Season 5 of 90 Day Fiance: The Other Way, Sarper (who was working as a personal trainer at the time) had some very specific requirements for his "dream girl." They included a strict weight goal of 128 pounds, daily outfit approvals, makeup preferences, and eventually a custom rhinoplasty design — all directed by Sarper himself. Sarper was quite controlling when it came to creating a "perfect" partner for himself.
Clashing Life Plans
Season 7 of 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After introduced us to Kimberly and Usman's second wife conflict. It was common in Usman's Nigerian culture for men to take multiple wives. Because of their age difference, Usman proposed the idea so he'd be able to have children with an additional wife. Kimberly struggled with the thought of sharing Usman, but she tried to move forward. Later on, Kimberly felt that Usman misrepresented what that lifestyle would truly look like. Then, Usman suggested adopting his nephew instead, which threw Kimberly for a loop. Ultimately, these major incompatibility issues pushed them apart.
Kissing Others
On Season 12 of 90 Day Fiance, Catie and Josh dealt with a recurring issue that greatly affected their relationship. After a few drinks, Catie wanted to make out with whoever was nearby — whether Josh was present or not. She said her OCD prompted her to do it. So, Josh was patient with Catie, but he made it clear that he didn't want her to make out with her friends or strangers. They weren't long distance anymore and they were supposed to get married in a matter of months. Catie spent the season fighting off her urge to smooch other people.
A Secret, Surprise Move
This season on 90 Day Fiance: The Other Way, Nigel visits his wife, Matilda, in her home country of Ghana after two years apart. However, Nigel isn't entirely honest about his "visit" with his beloved. Nigel, despite knowing Matilda's dreams of moving to the United States to start a family together, plans to move to Ghana instead. Catch the new season to see how this all pans out!
