Fun Facts to Share
Every season of 90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 Days brings new couples, more drama, and a chance to learn about countries around the world. Each part of the globe brings unique traditions, cuisine, and customs to the season. Here are a few of our favorite facts about the countries represented this season.
Philippines
The Philippines, where both Annalyn and Sheena are from, is made up of 7641 Islands! It’s also home to the world’s largest underground river located in the Puerta Princesa Subterranean River National Park.
Philippines
The Philippines is also home to the oldest basketball league and the sport is just as popular as it is in the USA. Not only are they avid PBA fans, they’re also avid NBA fans. Men and women, boys and girls all love to play the sport too.
Belize
Don’t expect to see many fast-food chains in Stig’s home country of Belize. Instead, they opt for local cuisine over the chains that are so prevalent in the states. The local food is delicious with influences from around Central America and dishes like stew chicken, flapjacks, and tamales.
Turkey
You may associate tulips with Holland, but the seed actually originated in Turkey! It’s the national flower of the country and every year, Istanbul hosts a giant tulip festival. It gets less fanfare than Amsterdam's, but it's still a beautiful display of the flowers. Perhaps Birkan should share these beauties with Laura?
Madagascar
Trisha is from Madagascar, a place known for so many different animals, including lemurs. In fact, Madagascar has over 100 species for the oldest living primates! Madagascar is also home to 150 species of chameleons, big and small.
Morocco
The heart may symbolize love in America, but in Morocco, love is symbolized by the liver. Will Ziad carry on this tradition? In other countries it’s not uncommon to hear my love or my heart, but in Morocco they say "my liver" in the various languages spoken across the country.
Nigeria
Whether or not Daniel is a movie buff is to be determined, but Nigeria is a huge home to movie production. They call it Nollywood, making 50 Nigerian movies a week, which is more than Hollywood and second only to Bollywood. It’s also the second largest employer in Nigeria.
Australia
Beaches and the opera house are staples of Sydney, Australia, home of this season’s Josh. Did you know that there are three times more sheep in Australia than people? And that those cute koalas actually sleep 20 hours a day? In such a sunny, beach climate, it’s also surprising to hear that the Australian Alps get more snow than the Swiss Alps!
