Why the Roomba Vacuum Changed My Life

When we decided to have kids, I didn’t realize how much more cleaning I would end up doing. If I’m not working, cooking or with the kids, I’m cleaning. In fact, housework is one of the biggest causes of stress in moms.
A study conducted by Pew Research Center discovered that moms spent almost 18 hours per week doing household work, compared to 9 hours per week for dads. I didn’t need a study to tell me this, though. Every day I spent hours cleaning the house, only to start over again the next day. So, when Christmas came around last year, I asked my family for a Roomba Vacuum.
Best. Decision. Ever.
Although this little robot cannot replace all I do, it has given me back a few hours of my life and, most importantly, it keeps my floors clean. I often have the robot vacuum run while I clean other areas of the house. By the time the vacuum is done, so am I, and my house feels so much cleaner!
A few years ago, some robot vacuums didn’t get the best rep. People complained about their cleaning capabilities and that they were getting lost. We invested in a Roomba 900 series, which remembers where it’s been and knows where to clean. Plus, it comes with a powerful filter that’s great for people with allergies or pets. And it can even vacuum food! My little one is a messy eater, especially when we eat things like rice. Before, I used to stress over how much food wound up on the floor, and now I just put the chairs on the table and let our Roomba do the work. It’s like magic!
Since having a Roomba, I haven’t had to clean our floors daily because it does such a great job. We have it set up on a schedule and every night when the kids are in bed, it gets the job done. It even comes with an app, so the Roomba can sweep the house before we come back from vacations.
Roombas have different models for different needs, including this new model that can empty itself out. If you’re thinking about getting a one, at least in this mom's opinion, it is 100 percent worth the investment!
