Barry Through the Years
Barry has completely transformed before our eyes! Click through photos of the Welcome to Plathville dad from Season 1 through today to see how much he's changed.
Barry loves goofing around and making the kids laugh. Remember when he did a funny duck voice that had everyone in stitches?
Ah, father-son bonding. Barry and Isaac enjoyed some one-on-one time outside chopping trees and chatting. Then, Barry asked Isaac about growing up and if he had any girls in his life — and young Isaac did not want to have that conversation with his dad. A little sweet and a whole lot awkward.
Barry's son, Ethan, came over to have a difficult conversation. He said he needed space from his parents and things ended on a sour note.
Barry spent an afternoon in the yard with the kids and taught them how to hit a golf ball.
Daughter Lydia chatted with Barry about a boy she liked and asked if he could visit.
Barry and his then-wife, Kim, split. He had a tearful heart-to-heart with the children and assured them that they were loved by both mom and dad no matter what.
Despite the drama surrounding his divorce, Barry found a new outlet. He began lifting weights at the gym and often competed with his son, Micah. According to Michah, Barry was back to his old, cheerful self again.
Micah coached Barry and their bond over fitness brought them so much closer together.
Look at those guns!
Barry and daughter Moriah became running buddies. He said that running helped clear his mind and got him outside.
Ethan visited and announced that he and his wife, Olivia, were getting a divorce. Barry, having just gone through his own divorce from Kim, offered his support.
Barry and his sons worked up a sweat in the gym together. Between the jokes and competitive jabs, they did a great job at motivating each other.
Can't leave the gym without a good flex!
Barry brought Micah to one of the their rental properties that he was hoping to move into for a fresh start. They sat down and caught up on life — careers, relationships, and online dating.
Micah even explained to Barry what "rizz" meant.
Barry invited his kids to join him in a Spartan Race, creating memories that they’d cherish forever.
Barry and the rest of the family came together to surprise Lydia for her 20th birthday! He gifted her shrubbery, which was tied to an inside joke that had everyone laughing.
Barry and Kim met with Moriah to talk through the drama surrounding her and her ex. Moriah opened up about her feelings and shared how grateful she was for their support.
While the family prepared for their concert, Barry and Kim's boyfriend, Ken, had their first meaningful one-on-one conversation. Barry asked Ken for his thoughts on Moriah’s situation, and Ken respectfully shared that he would always support her, but would never overstep.
Barry met Lydia's then-boyfriend, Zac. The two seemed to hit it off quickly and later on, Zac asked Barry for Lydia's hand in marriage. Without any hesitation, Barry said yes. He was excited to have this honor.
Barry had a heated discussion with Kim about their divorce. Kim accused Barry of holding things up and said she was struggling and going into debt. She wanted child support in the interim. Barry felt ambushed and left the conversation to watch their daughters rollerblade.
He cooled off and continued the conversation inside. They agreed to push their lawyers to speed up the process. Barry admitted that his guard was up with Kim and he learned how to detach in emotional moments like these.
While other family members were less than supportive of Lydia and Zac's engagement and upcoming wedding, Barry was thrilled! In fact, he couldn't wait for his "inevitable" grandchildren to join the family too.
He was getting used to his children moving far away as adults, but he was happy that Lydia decided to stay close.
Barry made what might've been the world's longest speech at Lydia and Zac's wedding. It was definitely a toast to remember and the father-daughter dance was the cherry on top of the wonderful evening... before the rest of the family drama, of course.
