Jim Parsons is best known for playing Sheldon Cooper, the uber nerd, friend and roommate on the CBS sitcom "The Big Bang Theory". From the time he was 3-years-old Parson's knew he wanted to be an actor . He was active in high school theater and continued to study acting through college at the University of Houston and graduate school at the University of San Diego.

2002: Jim Parsons made his TV debut as Chet in the TV Series "Ed".

2004: He appeared in his first film, Garden State, with a cameo role as a nerdy character who works at a Medieval Times dinner and theater show and speaks Klingon.

2009: He was nominated for his first Emmy Award for portraying Sheldon Cooper on "The Big Bang Theory".

2010-2011: In both of these years, Parsons won the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for the character Sheldon Cooper on "The Big Bang Theory".

2012: Jim Parsons was nominated another Emmy Award for playing the role of Sheldon Cooper.

2013: Jim Parsons is nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, the Emmy Awards will be presented on September 22.
