Lori Allen

Lori Allen is the face -- and heart -- of Say Yes to the Dress: Atlanta and Say Yes to the Dress: Bridesmaids. At Bridals by Lori, she dresses and accessorizes brides, but Lori offers more than glitz and glam in her salon. Lori also counsels, mediates and encourages in her warm, Southern style. Being the heart and the backbone of her business, Lori was shaken when she learned that she had breast cancer and would be taking a leave of absence from the store.

"Naturally I was devastated when I found out that I had breast cancer," she said. "Wanting to turn something very negative into something positive, I decided to share my journey with my TLC family and others in hope that I can raise breast cancer awareness and perhaps help other women facing breast cancer be less afraid. Breast cancer is a personal journey, and throughout this process, some days were easier than others, but I survived with faith, family and friends."

Say Yes to the Cure: Lori's Fight is a deeply personal chronicle of Lori's struggle and resolve to beat breast cancer. The hour-long special follows Lori's journey as she leaves the bridal shop she has built, then faces surgery and recovery. Filling Lori's role is Monte, who rallies the staff with help from Robin and Flo. They meet a very special bride, DeLese Range, who is renewing her vows and wants to celebrate a 25-year marriage. Twenty-three of those years have been spent undergoing treatment for various forms of cancer that have afflicted her. It's an emotional appointment, and Lori's absence is deeply felt as the team endeavors to find DeLese's perfect dress.

Of Lori's struggle with breast cancer, TLC's GM Amy Winter commented, "Anyone who has met Lori or watched her programs is struck by her spirit, warmth and humor. Lori is a beloved member of our TLC family and our hearts have been with her throughout this difficult journey. She is a remarkable woman, who has handled this with dignity, grace and signature spunk since day one of her diagnosis. This special is about spreading awareness to our viewers, but most importantly, it's about sharing Lori's story of strength, hope and perseverance."
