Cake Base Ingredients

  • 2 eggs
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 Tsp vanilla
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup heavy cream

Topping Ingredients

  • 15 oz. butter
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 pound & 14oz. sugar
  • 3 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1/8 teaspoon orange flavor
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup corn syrup
  • 1 pound cake flour
  • 1 oz. milk powder
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup pecan pieces
  • 1 tablespoon powdered sugar


Preheat Oven to 350 degrees. Grease 9x9 pan. To make the creme cake base, blend flour, salt, and baking powder in a separate bowl.

Using a mixer with a paddle attachment, blend eggs til thick. Add sugar and vanilla.

Slowly add cream and flour mixture alternating between the two. Mix for 2 minutes and pour 10 oz. evenly into 9x9 pan.

Next start topping mixture by combining shortening, salt, sugar, cake flour, and milk powder into mixer with a paddle attachment. Measure out eggs and corn syrup. Add slowly to dry ingredients.

Measure and add water, vanilla and orange flavor into mix. Mix on medium speed for 3 minutes. Pour 16 oz. of topping evenly onto creme cake base. Add pecan pieces if desired. Bake for 20-25 minutes. Cool and lightly dust top with powdered sugar.
