A Tough Little Man: November 25, 2014

This week saw some of the most trying times so far. Our little Huck got really sick with something, obviously a very dangerous thing for him. He had to be intubated and have a ventilator do his breathing for him. But just when things were at their darkest, Huck turned around and fought back. He is a tough little man and is doing very well just a few days later. He has gained another 5 ounces and his brain scan showed that the blood is not spreading any further. We thank God, the doctors and nurses, and everyone for their prayers and concern. Jake and I know that we could not manage without this huge outpouring of love. -- Karlie

Another Good Week: November 19, 2014

Our little man has had another good week. We are now up to three holds a day and that is divine! He weighs in at a whopping 2 pounds 2.5 ounces, which is an ounce and a half over birth weight. We have moved him to a CPAP machine instead of a ventilator. All of those things are ahead of schedule -- yea!! We still have the major hurdle of his brain though. We are doing weekly brain scans too track the brain bleed he suffered at birth. This is very concerning and could mean tough times ahead. But we just keep taking all the good and work with the bad. Jake and I once again thank you all for your support and prayers. They have been amazing. - Karlie

A Week of Ups and Downs: November 12, 2014

It has been a week of ups and downs. I was warned that this was how it would be, but it doesn't make it any easier. My baby boy is struggling with the complications of being born at 25 weeks. It's been two and a half weeks now. He is doing amazing with his breathing. He no longer is intubated, but is still ventilated. That doesn't usually happen with a baby his age. We have been on a roller coaster with the condition of his brain. We just keep praying that the bleeding will dissipate and his little brain will heal without any lasting effects. He is back up to his birth weight 2 pound 1 ounce and he opened his eyes two days ago. Those big, I mean tiny little eyes of his. I'm so in love, and his hair is blonder than I thought it would be. I was sure he'd be all ginger. We are up to two skin to skin's a day. I can tell he loves it; he sleeps so well when I'm holding him. His grandpa and grandma want a turn, but they have to wait until we are up to three a day. Jake and I are so grateful for all of the love, prayers, and support that we have gotten. We are so blessed to have so many people pulling for our baby Huck. - Karlie

Introducing Baby Huck

At 2:23 a.m. on October 29, Karlie gave birth prematurely to Jacob "Huck" Jessop, her first precious son with husband, Jacob. He was born at 25 weeks and weighed 2 pounds 1 ounce. He has a strong heart, and an even stronger will to live. We are confident that with continued love, many prayers, and attentive hands, our baby Huck will have an amazing homecoming sometime in late February. Please pray for baby Huck. - Brady and the "My Five Wives" family
