No one wears pantsuits anymore -- even our First Lady passes on these relics of '80s fashion history. But how can you get a polished, yet professional look? By buying a jumpsuit. Before you roll your eyes, hear us out: They're empowering, they're chic, they're simple and they are just as fun as they are sophisticated (or, at least, they can be if you pick the right one!).

Still intimidated by this one-piece wonder? If you've been watching Love, Lust or Run (and if you haven't, what the heck are you waiting for?), you've probably noticed that Stacy London and the candidates are rocking these figure-flattering fashion staples. Stacy spoke to Elle and spilled her secrets for finding the perfect jumpsuit for your body. Here are her top 3 tips:

  1. If it is meant to be tailored and formal, the fit in the rise (crotch) is most important.
  2. If you are going for something looser and a bit more oversized, then a drop crotch is acceptable. (Many of the more casual jumpsuits are cut that way.)
  3. For petite ladies (women under 5'3"), stick to fitted jumpsuits only. Oversized will simply overwhelm your frame, and no one wants to look like they took up residence in their clothing.

Now that we discussed how to buy a jumpsuit, here are the seven reasons why you'll feel amazing once you slip one on:

  1. It's as simple and easy as a dress, but brings it's own unique flair.
  2. You can bust any move on the dance floor, say goodbye to worrying about your dress or skirt revealing too much. Also, it comes in handy when playing with your kids -- jumpsuits are sisters to rompers (the shorts version made for hot summer days) which are also called playsuits.
  3. It's chic and commanding without being too much, as Stacy demonstrated when she styled Jai on Love, Lust or Run.
  4. It's nearly impossible to not feel empowered in a jumpsuit, perhaps because they are a nod to menswear -- finally a suit that celebrates the women's figure and isn't just a men's suit in a lady size!
  5. The jumpsuit can be formal or casual depending how you accessorize it. Wear a blazer at work, but throw on a statement necklace before you head out on Saturday night...don't forget the heels!
  6. Many retailers sell affordable and stylist jumpsuits and rompers, such as Topshop, Zara, and H&M.
  7. It portrays confidence. Wearing a jumpsuit tells the world, I'm here and I'm my own woman. You go, girl!

Now that you are a master in all things jumpsuit, so put on your Beyonce/Taylor Swift/Katy Perry girl power playlist and jump into spring in your jumpsuit. Who run the world? GIRLS....in jumpsuits.
