Mama June Q &A: Weight Loss, Fame and Life as a Blonde

Mama June stopped by for a chat with Facebook fans. Take a look at her answers to questions like how fame has changed her life and what she wanted to be when she grew up — the answers may surprise you!

What's it like being Honey Boo Boo's mama?

Mama June: Being Honey Boo Boo's mom is no different from being anyone else’s mom. She has a great personality and is like any other kid. She acts out at times and gets in trouble…so it's no different.

How is baby Kaitlyn?

Mama June: Baby Kaitlyn is fine! She'll be 6 months old on the 26th. Starting to crawl, and say hey. Gigi was her first word (that's what she calls me).

What is your favorite part of doing the show?

Mama June: My favorite part of being the show is to be able to show someone the inside of our life. We might not be the most traditional family, but we like showin’ other types of families.

What did you want to grow up to be when you were a kid?

Mama June: When I was growin’ up I wanted to become a teacher. At that time, I wanted to teach special needs kids. Today, when we meet our special needs fans, our "special fans" (that's what Alana calls them), they touch our heart the most.

How has the show changed your life?

Mama June: The show really hasn't changed my life at all. Really the only change is that now we have security. I really didn't think our show would be as popular as it is. At any given day, we have a big crowd outside our house.

How does Sugar Bear deal with living with six females in the house?

Mama June: Sugar Bears always been quiet, so he doesn't really mind. Sometimes he goes into the man cave, this room that he has. It was kind of a shock for him to not have any boys in the house, so he just invites his friends over.

Do you see pageant life in the future for your grand baby?

Mama June: Yes I do. She has a glitz pageant comin’ up soon.

Did any of your other kids do pageants? And how did Alana get started?

Mama June: Alana was the first. We thought Alana looked like a porcelain doll with her chubby cheeks and her curly hair, so we decided to put her in a mall pageant.

Does Alana's fame affect her in school?

Mama June: Alana doesn't fame doesn't affect her at school. Truthfully, she doesn't realize how famous she is. People say "hey Alana, hey Alana," in the halls but she's always been really outgoing at school. She doesn't get any special privileges.
