Fried cake bread is a classic gypsy recipe that's simple to make. You've probably got all the ingredients in your pantry right now! Don't wait for a special occasion to make this -- serve it with any meal tonight, from simple soup to a humble meatloaf.

Ingredients:

  • Flour
  • Water or buttermilk
  • Butter or oil for frying

Directions:

  1. Starting with about two cups of flour, mix with water or buttermilk until the flour and liquid form a shaggy dough.
  2. Shape into small balls, then flatten.
  3. Heat your choice of oil or butter in a skillet over medium heat.
