Buddy's sister Lisa is a familiar face on Cake Boss. Fans can find her working the front counter, but they don't always see the behind-the-scenes ways that Lisa pitches in. Find out her No. 1 music obsession and how this talented artist helped build business at the bakery. Lisa tells TLC about her special bond with her family and shares a few special stories about Cake Boss fans.
1: How Would You Describe Your Job at the Bakery?
Well, I love everything I do at Carlo's. I like to take orders, I like to manage the storefront, and I like to meet people. I have a different way of going about things. Because I'm the youngest, I'm a bit more fun -- can I say that?! I also help a little with the billing, but I really enjoy interacting with customers.
2: What's the Most Special Interaction You've Had With a Customer?
Well, it's a little sad, but I met an aunt getting a cake for her 10-year-old niece, who was dying. Her niece just really wanted a cake from the Cake Boss. So, we made her a cake, and I put all of our pictures on the cake for her. She had a little sister who was 6 years old, so I sent them both T-shirts and autographs. A couple of weeks later, the aunt sent me her niece's obituary and told me how the cake was one of the last things she was able to eat. The cake made her so happy, and it was really touching that I could help.
If you want a story that's a little happier, we had a 13-year-old girl who came to Hoboken and the bakery as a surprise for her birthday. We put her cake in the front window -- it was tie-dye with peace signs and said "Happy Birthday." She came in with a bunch of her friends and her mom, and it was a really cute cake!
3: If You Didn't Work at Carlo's, What Would You Be Doing?
I always wanted to be an artist or an art teacher. I like to draw. Before Buddy had his sculptors, I used to sketch cakes for him. He would describe something to me, and I would put it down on paper. He can decorate, but he can't draw. He would give me the vision, and I would draw it down.
4: What's Your Favorite Treat From Carlo's?
That would probably be the pecan wedge. My absolute favorite cake is chocolate cake with chocolate mousse, fresh raspberries and chocolate ganache.
5: What Would You Like Fans to Know About You?
I'm a real family girl! I have three kids, and I'm a single mom. My kids are the world to me. I love to cook, I love to read -- and I absolutely LOVE Bon Jovi. I wear my Bon Jovi shirt all the time. I'm dying to meet him ... I would have a heart attack if I did!
6: What's Your Favorite Bon Jovi Song?
Every single song is my favorite Bon Jovi song! Even my phone's ringtone is Bon Jovi. How many times have I seen him? The question is, how many times haven't I seen him? Since I was 12, I've missed him just twice when he's been in New Jersey. I fell in love with him when I was 12 -- and his was the first video I saw on MTV. My kids like Bon Jovi, too. I just brought my son and daughter to their first Bon Jovi concert. They know all the songs.
7: Tell Us About Your Kids.
My daughter Teresa will be 10 in August. She's a great girl and loves soccer and music. She's a big helper -- the second mommy in the house. My son John is 7, and he's a little wild man! He loves all sports and enjoys singing and dancing. He's a really good boy. My daughter Isabella is 1. She's my little lovebug, a really happy baby. The whole family loves her so much. My brother made her an Elmo cake for her first birthday, and she already loves all the treats at the bakery, especially the chocolate-covered strawberries.
8: If You Could Describe Buddy in Just One Word, What Would It Be?
Confident. Since we were young, he always had a confidence about him. We were very close growing up.
