Read Mary's episode 3 recap. Miriam had a few drinks, then confronted Matt and Courtney. Do you think she would've told Courtney the truth had she not discussed the issue with English strangers at the bar?

Mary: Miriam confronting Matt was a good idea, and even if she got the idea from the English kids, it needed to be done. I used to really like Matt, but now he's lost my interest. He's probably deeply hurt about some things, but that's no excuse. If I were hurt, it wouldn't give me the right to act that way. It's really hard for an adopted kid -- English or Amish -- if they're in a home with no love. It's also hard for me to explain to people why Amish life is so hard. I loved growing up on the farm. We worked hard, but we played hard, too. Once I got older and realized if I spent time in the English city I wouldn't go to hell, I learned to enjoy that, too. Courtney was so quiet during the conversation with Miriam. Why do you think she took the news so calmly?

Mary: Maybe the love isn't there between Courtney and Matt? She was way too quiet during that conversation. Vonda went on a date with an English boy. Do you think she enjoyed herself -- and do you think she'll go out with him again?

Mary: From the look on her face, yes, she enjoyed herself. Would she go out with him again? That's a question mark. Barbie helped Vonda get ready for her date. Is she the kind of friend you'd like to have? Which of the girls do you think you'd get along with best?

Mary: I can see myself really getting along with Miriam. She has spunk; she'll be the one turning out OK. She tells it like it is, and I can relate to that. Barbie was nice and encouraging to Vonda, and that's nice, too. How do you think Bates performed during his tour guide audition?

Mary: He would've done better if he wasn't drunk or hungover. He loves to talk, and that's what it takes to be a tour guide. Courtney's mother, Venus, allowed her to have her hair and makeup done for her date with Matt. How do you think this affected Courtney?

Mary: This is my honest opinion. No makeup, no hairdo is going to make love bright. Matt is obviously trying to court her, but I don't know if it will work.
