Tyler Perry, the mogul whose resume includes "Diary of a Mad Black Woman" and the subsequent Madea movies as well as the hit television show "The Haves and Have Nots," will write, direct and executive produce a new show for TLC. This summer, "Too Close to Home" (working title) will tell the story of a young woman who is forced to return to her humble beginnings after a scandal ruins her political career. Here's what we know about the eight-part series so far.

1. It's TLC's first scripted series

Though the network is known for it's documentary-style shows focusing on real-life characters such as "The Long Island Medium" and "The Little Couple," TLC president Nancy Daniels says this series is a calculated risk: "This is an experiment for us, but when you go with somebody like Tyler it's a safer bet."

2. It's going to bring the DRAMA

Like most of Perry's work, there will be no shortage of surprising turns and emotional moments. The series will center on woman who has a hugely successful political career that quickly dissolves when it's revealed that she's having an affair with a married senator. She is forced to leave Washington DC and return to her trailer-park beginnings, where she'll have to deal with her past -- and everyone from it! What could be more dramatic than that?

3. ...And the humor

Perry is also known for his sense of humor, even when dealing with tricky topics. We know that he'll build a few laughs into what will be a very juicy script.

4. No actors are attached yet

Though casting hasn't begun, Daniels says her desire is "to have the cast reflect the country." Perry will obviously have a large say in who makes the cut.

5. The fashion is going to be on-point

Perry's work usually has a sleek aesthetic, and we can't wait to see what his team dreams up for costumes. Can you image the political power suits and toned-down hometown outfits? We're sure they'll be epic, as is everything Perry produces.
