This Playlist Is Guaranteed to Make Mornings a Little Easier

Getting out of bed is never easy, and with the days getting shorter, it's going to be tougher and tougher to get up on the right side of the bed. Thankfully, Spotify teamed up with psychologist and Cambridge PhD candidate, David M. Greenberg, to determine which songs help you ease into your morning. According to his research, there are three key elements when choosing a song to wake up to:

It must build: No one wants to get their ear drums blasted at 7 a.m. A wake up song should start slowly (even if just for a few seconds) and get faster and louder, just as you become more awake and alert.

It must be positive: Sorry, but there won't be any negative songs in the morning. Make sure the message of the songs you're listening to actually makes you want to get moving.

It must have a strong beat: Greenberg found that songs that emphasize beats 2 and 4 of each measure -- often using bass and drums -- with a BPM of approximately 100-130 will help kickstart your day.
