This Dog Carrying Food Has Become a Symbol of Texas Strength & Love During Hurricane Harvey

Before Hurricane Harvey hit and devastated the Texas coast, Salvador Segovia left his grandson's pup, Otis in his screened in porch with plenty of food and water for the night.

The following morning, Segovia went to check on Otis but he was no where to be found. A neighbor in the area, Tiele Dockens was making rounds, checking on friends and families -- when suddenly she saw Otis walking down the street with a bag of food in his mouth. She described the way Otis was walking to The Washington Post, as though he was "on a mission."

Dockens then followed the German Shepard mix who led her right back to Segovia's home. Apparently Otis often takes strolls alone in town, sometimes doing to Dairy Queen for a burger -- where he is known. Segovia says he's one smart dog, which leads him to believe Otis somehow got inside a local lumber store and grabbed a bog of Ol' Roy dog food.

The National Weather Services tweeted this about the effects of the hurricane: "This event is unprecedented & all impacts are unknown & beyond anything experienced."

The devastation Texas has seen is unmeasurable and the way Texas has come together to help one another shows just how strong Texas is.
