This Boy’s Lost Tiger Has An Airport Adventure Of His Own

It's every mom's worst nightmare: Six-year-old Owen Lake was on his way to Houston, Texas, with his mom Amanda when he realized that he'd forgotten his favorite stuffed tiger Hobbes at the Tampa airport. When Owen and his mom realized they'd left the prized tiger behind, they notified the airport, who quickly retrieved the toy from the airport's play area.

Airport workers could have simply put Hobbes in the Lost and Found and waited for Owen's return. But instead Airport Operations Center manager Tony D'Aiuto had other ideas. Why not send Hobbes on a vacay of his own? D'Aiuto set about taking pictures of the tiger around the airport, and the adjacent Marriott Hotel, having a great time sans Owen. Hobbes worked out at the airport gym, played Jengo, napped in a hammock by the Marriott pool, and hung out with firefighters. And he definitely took a lazy ride on one of the luggage carts.

D'Aiuto stressed that he took all the photos on his own time. And then to commemorate the adventures, he made a hardbound book of Hobbes' time at the airport for Owen.

"It was very, very sweet," Amanda Lake said. "We already told him over and over that Hobbes was on an adventure so it was nice to get back and show him that Hobbes really had been on an adventure."

Though hopefully it won't encourage Owen to leave his stuffed animals anywhere else.

Hope my fur is non-flammable! Guess we'll find out.
