This 3D Paintbrush Is Revolutionizing Art

Revolutionary changes in artist's materials don't happen often -- for every contemporary artist using trash or Jell-O you'll find just as many using traditional paints and brushes.

But a new app from Google called Tilt Brush may be about to change all that. The app connects to the HTC Vive headset, and allows users to "paint life-sized, three dimensional strokes of just about anything -- even drawing with impossible material such as fire, snow, and stars," reports CNN.

Once you've finished your virtual reality creation, you can display it at room-scale -- and yes, that means you can walk under, around, and between your brushstrokes -- or as an animated GIF.

Painting in 3D offers professional artists and amateur creatives an entirely new way to imagine and produce their work, whether it's in fashion, painting, or large-scale installations.

As one early user artist told CNN, the app "[is] going to revolutionize how people are going to view immersive artworks."
