Back in the early '90s, when the war on fatty foods was at its peak, you were considered a pizza-party pariah if you didn't spend a few moments blotting the slice with a paper napkin prior to biting into the cheese goodness.

The grease-absorbing habit seemed to fall out of favor a bit as the Atkins Diet and other carb-shunning regimens fell into favor. But now that people are taking a more balanced approach to eating -- fat isn't as vilified as it once was, and the bread basket isn't automatically waved away -- perhaps it's time to take another look at the fat-dabbing habit.

Turns out, our '90s selves were onto something. As the below infographic from Labdoor Magazine helpfully shows: the pizza-blotters have been saving themselves in the range of 6,660 calories a year. Or, to put it in pizza-lover terms: it's the equivalent of eating 20 fewer slices of pizza every year.
