With so many incredible wedding gowns highlighted throughout March MadDress, you can't help but find yourself wondering which gown you'd want to wear; and for one lucky March MadDress participant, that dream becomes a reality. The grand prize winner of the March MadDress contest wins $5000 towards a Kleinfeld exclusive gown of their choice. Last year's winner couldn't believe her luck but, after the shock wore off, she dove deep into wedding dress research. Before she knew it, the day arrived, and she was standing outside Kleinfeld ready for the ultimate bridal shopping experience.

Read on to hear all about her shopping day, and see the gowns that didn't make her cut and the dress that get a Yes!

Winning reaction:

At first, I didn't entirely believe I'd won! I honestly thought it was maybe a scam or mistake. Once I realized it was the real deal, I was beyond excited. I've watched the show with my family for years, so it was a dream come true for all of us!

Arriving at Kleinfeld:

Once we went into the store, the atmosphere was elegant but friendly! Everyone we talked to was kind, friendly, and helpful! They obviously work very hard to make sure everyone who comes in the store is well taken care of. One thing my entourage and I noticed immediately was how small the store is. It seems much larger on the show. Nonetheless, it is lovely and there was a massive dress selection to choose from!

My consultant was Debbie, and she is an absolute delight! Throughout my appointment, she helped make everyone feel welcome and have a good time! I brought a rather large group with me, 7 people! Kleinfeld has a typical 3 guest rule but they were kind enough to allow me to bring a larger group. Everyone had a wonderful time!

Picking a dress:

I went in with a pretty strict $5k budget. There were plenty of dresses to pick from in that price range, so I didn't feel the need to spend the excess money. My fiance and I are planning the wedding on a conservative budget, so winning my dress was an absolute blessing!

I had tried on dresses once before, and found that myself gravitating towards A-line and ball gown styles. Though, I was willing to try on just about anything except mermaid silhouettes! The was the only request my fiance made about the dress--"no dresses that poof at the bottom." I also wanted to stick something with a lighter material and minimal beading, since the wedding will be outdoors.

Dress 1: This one was a crowd favorite and the only one I tried on that was over budget. The color was spectacular. I never pictured myself in a pink dress, but it was surprisingly lovely. However, I was worried the long sleeves and surprisingly heavy gown would have made for an uncomfortable (and sweaty) wedding day.

Dress 2: This one had the dramatic back I was looking for and minimal beading. The silhouette was also very flattering--a sort of subtle fit and flare.

Dress 3: This one would have sent my poor father into cardiac arrest. I really wanted a dress with a plunging back, and this fit the ticket. But it was WAY sexier than I was going for. Pnina Tornai is known for her sexy dresses, and this one was no exception. I will say that this skirt was my favorite of all the dresses I tried on. The material was extremely soft--so soft, in fact, that I was tempted to take a mid-appointment nap in it.

Dress 4: Everyone adored this dress... except me. The massive skirt and the heavy beading was not quite my style, and I found it to be rather itchy! I also felt like the neckline accentuated my broad shoulders and back. All in all, I felt like I was wearing sparkly, itchy football gear.

Dress 5: Debbie picked this one out for me, and it was amazing! In addition to the stunning back and beautiful lace, the gown had three different colored layers of tulle. It was fun and unique, with a lot of the features I had been looking for in my dream gown.

Dress 6: THE One - Before I even finished putting this one on, I turned into that stereotypical over-emotional bride. Without a second thought, this was the dress I chose. It had a dramatic back and long train, no beading, and the most beautiful gold trimmed lace. It was so wonderful. Debbie had found my dream dress--a $4,500 Lazaro gown, just off the runway. I hate to sound cheesy, but she really is a bridal genius!
