Moms everywhere are having the same problem: they want to workout, but simply can't find the time. The time it takes to put workout clothes on, drive to the gym, workout, and then make your way back home is simply not a feasible fitness method for busy parents. However, there is one thing moms with kids of all ages can agree: they can find 20 minutes of free-time at home. Whether the kids are finally down for naptime, dad takes over, or you wake up 20 minutes earlier, everyone has time for this workout.

The workout we are talking about is called Tabata. This is a method of extremely effective exercise intervals that originated in Japan. The structure of the workout is 8 rounds of 20 seconds of highly intense movement followed by a quick 10 second break. Each Tabata workout lasts only 4 minutes! By doing 5 rounds of different exercises, you will complete a 20-minute fat-burning workout in what feels like no time.

Structure of 1 Tabata Circuit:

  • High intensity move (20 seconds)
  • Rest (10 seconds)
  • 8 rounds

WANNA TONE UP??? Well SAVE AND TRY THIS!! I have the perfect workouts for you to do if you want to tone up your body in time for summer! ? I'm not gonna lie and say these exercises are gonna give you a big booty because to do that you need to lift weights ???? but this will help you shed some fat and tone a little ? I bang on about tabata/hiit and the reason for this because this worked a treat for me when I wanted to shed my fat ? Follow this workout in paired activities, either using tabata music or completing them for 20 seconds each, 10 seconds rests in between the two! ? Burpees + Mountain Climbers ? Squat Jumps + Press Ups ? Bicep Curl + Shuttle Sprints ? Side Jump Squats + Shoulder Press ? Pop Squats + Plank ? Weighted Sit Ups + Held Leg Raises Honestly I am using these type of exercises everyday to try and shed some fat and tone for summer! The best part about this workout, other than it being done in 20 minutes, is that it is completely customizable! You can make all the workouts for arms, abs, legs, or cardio. Pick the muscle group you want to work that day and build your own workout around it!

Example:

  1. Squats (4 minutes)
  2. Lunges (4 minutes)
  3. Jumping jacks (4 minutes)
  4. Sumo squats (4 minutes)
  5. Mountain climbers (4 minutes)

Tabata is a quick workout, which is why you have to push yourself for those 20 seconds! After a while you will find your body feeling stronger and you have more energy throughout the day to be with your kids. You can also make this into a 16 or even 8-minute workout if that is all the time you have! Customize this workout based on your needs. As long as you have the foundation you can make it your own!
