It's amazing what parents will do when trying to help their kids with something.

When teaching her daughter how to write and spell, this crafty mother in Vancouver, Canada concocted a way to turn these drab activities into something fab: spelling out the words on a "salt tray."

"It's waaaaay more fun than having to use a pencil and paper," this mother--named Jen--captioned a video she posted on Facebook of her daughter using the tray.

Jen went on to explain why this technique can be so beneficial for children learning how to write and/or spell.

"Fixing mistakes is a breeze {fun even - shake, shake, shake!} so it takes away a lot of the anxiety that comes with potentially making a mistake and the frustration that comes with constantly having to erase, and it's a sensory-filled process, which adds interest and holds kids' attention."

The best part is they are super easy to make. Just pour a solid layer of salt over a colored tray and let your kids get to work!
