Selling Clothes

We've all heard the saying "one man's trash is another man's treasure," so if you are getting rid of items from your home while you spring clean, don't just toss them in the trash. If you take a few extra steps, you can turn your items into some extra spending cash.

Before you try to sell, here are a few tips to getting the biggest bang for your buck:

Take Great Pictures- You are more likely to sell your items if you take a few extra minutes to take a great photo of your items. Start by cleaning everything you are going to sell. Sometimes it's just knocking the dust off or using a gentle cleaner to give it some shine. Then take your item outside where there is a lot of light or place the item against a white wall. Drag over a lamp if you need more light. If you need inspiration, look at great examples of sale photos on sites like Ebay to see what to do and what not to do.

Give accurate and detailed info- This is the time that less is not more. Give as many details as possible to describe your item and the current condition. Buyers will be more likely to purchase your item if you are clear and concise.

Offer Free Shipping- Before you try to sell the item, see how much it will cost to ship that item and include that cost into your sale price. This way you aren't out of a profit but the free shipping will catch the eye of your buyer.

Now where do I sell all of this stuff?

Using online groups on Facebook is a great place to start. Many of these online yard sale groups are organized by area or neighborhood so you will need to do a little searching. This way you can quickly sell items locally which makes it easier because you don't have to ship anything.

You can also find consignment stores to sell clothing and furniture items, but be sure to do your research before you drop off your items. You'll want to see what is a reasonable price for your items. Consignment stores are also great for selling kid's clothes and toys, and online consignment store are a great option for you brand name clothes too.

Try organizing a yard sale with a few neighbors. If you don't have enough items to host your own yard sale, see if your neighborhood is hosting one or ask a few neighbors to join you. This way you have more items to attract buyers.
