Salons Are Teaching Dads How to Braid Their Daughters’ Hair…and It’s Adorable!

Is there anything cuter than a dad doing his daughter's hair? We didn't think so. Which is why it's great that Envogue Salon, in Denver, Colorado, has made it their personal mission to teach more dutiful dads the way of hair braiding, twisting, and ponytail prep.

Envogue just held the first of their "Beer and Braids" father-daughter nights, where dads can sit back with a cocktail and bond with their little girls while learning everything from braiding to creating the perfect ponytail. For $55, the salon teaches braiding-challenged dads (and let's face it, what dad isn't?), everything they need to know to make their daughters' locks look great. Dads are armed with beers and their daughters are treated to snacks and root beers.

Of course, fathers can be intimidated. "The guys' hands are so big, and with their tiny daughters, the dads get frustrated," said Envogue owner Calli Hueble-Bodillis. And the stakes are high. The girls compete in a mini-runway show at the end of the night and the dad who's done the best hair--as determined by the hairstylists--wins his very own six pack of beer.

And Envogue isn't the only salon catering to dads in dire need of hair training. Cozy's Cuts for Kids in Manhattan hosts a Dad Braiding 101 class where fathers learn how to style a ponytail, a ponytail braid, and a braided bun (something we can't even do). The 45-minute session also tackles the very delicate subject of detangling hair and how to distract your kid long enough so you can braid her hair.

Which might actually be the hardest part.
