How would you feel about a restaurant that didn't allow children? Would you mentally cross them off your list of places to patronize, or would you run racing to their doors immediately? One risky resto in New Zealand opted to ban children under the age of seven and claimed it had its best weekend ever.

According to Liam Flynn, the owner of Flynn's Restaurant in Queensland, New Zealand, the decision to ban young children has had the surprising result of improving not only his overall numbers, but his reviews, as well. Flynn said he made the decision to ban kids after a screaming child disrupted dinner service earlier this summer.

While children aren't allowed at restaurant, dogs are, which has rankled some parents. Others with young children supported the policy. "What you have done with banning kids under 7 is digesting. Not everyone has the luxury of having family to babysit and I sure as hell wouldn't leave my baby with a stranger," read one comment on the restaurant's TripAdvisor page. Another comment came out in support of the policy. "I have six young children and I couldn't agree more! There is nothing worse than paying a babysitter to go out for a quiet meal and then having someone else's child screaming or running around. There are plenty of places to take young children, and a fine dining establishment like Flynn's is not one of them!"

For his part, Liam Flynn hopes that he's setting a standard for other upscale restaurants. "So what we want to do is to provide an intimate atmosphere for our guests with good food and good service. So our market is not parents with children. We mainly cater for the 50 to 65 age range," he told the Daily Mail.

What do you think? Would you go to a restaurant that wouldn't allow kids?
