If the mere words "proposal at a wedding reception" cause you to clutch your pearls in outrage at the utter lack of manners of the question-popper, you're certainly not alone. A photo of a man down on one knee, proffering an engagement ring to his girlfriend, has taken the internet by storm -- it's racked up more than 2 million views in just a few days -- and folks are not mincing words in their indignant comments.

But it turns out there's another side to the story: the bride in question was actually in cahoots with the proposer and wholeheartedly endorsed the plan. The proposee is her sister, and she thought it would be wonderful for all the friends and family to be present as he asked her to marry him.

"The groom of the wedding actually held my engagement ring the entire trip," the newly engaged Iowa woman told the New York Daily News. "Everyone in the Reddit picture knew the proposal was going to happen except for me!"

Bride, groom and soon-to-be fiances sit together at the wedding.
