Taking maternity photos is one of the most exciting parts of pregnancy. It's a beautiful way to document you're your growing belly and to celebrate the arrival of your new baby. But for one mom-to-be, planning a maternity photo session was also heartbreaking because her husband was deployed thousands of miles away during her pregnancy. However, a very creative and clever photographer found a way to include the dad-to-be in the photos.

Nicole Bedwell was expecting her first child with her husband Wesley, who was stationed 7,000 miles away in Japan. So when she hired Traci Fugitt to do a maternity shoot, the two women knew that in addition to the regular belly pictures, they needed to find a way to include Wesley into the photo shoot.

The mom-to-be asked her husband to pose with his hand outstretched and to send the photo to the photographer. "I put them side by side to show the difference between the locations in different countries," Fugitt told the Huffington Post, and the results are beautiful.

Since sharing the photos on social media, these gorgeous pictures have gone viral and are inspiring other photographers who find their clients in similar situations.

The Bedwells welcomed their baby girl Pyper on April 13, and we are thrilled to report that Wesley was home in time for the baby's arrival. Fugitt says she hopes to schedule a newborn session with Nicole, Wesley, and baby Pyper before Wesley has to return for the remainder of his deployment.
