5 “Mug Meals” That Make Your Mouth Water and Your Life Easy

With the recent news that adults are now eating a full 46 percent of meals alone, it's understandable that we might be looking for ways to reduce waste and (my favorite part) laborious cleanup involved with a more elaborate meal. Enter: the meal in a mug (or meal in a cup) trend.

We love these quick and easy meals-for-one for many reasons, but most of all: how great is it to have literally one vessel for cooking and eating? Here are a few of our favorites:

1. Omelette in a cup.

Not only does it look super cute (at least in this neat Instagram shot here), but the omelette-in-a-cup breakfast option is a nice, quick hit of protein to get your day going. Try this great Microwave Farmer's Omelette in a Cup recipe from Mr. Breakfast for inspiration.


2. French Toast in a mug.

Of course there's more to mug meals than breakfast, but I've always avoided French Toast because it's so darn messy. Mess be gone with this 2-Minute French Toast in a Cup.



3. Mexican chilaquiles in a coffee cup.

You wouldn't believe you can make a Mexican meal for one in a cup -- but you can, thanks to this great one from Hot Dinner Happy Home.



4. Quiche cup.

Yes, eggs are a popular go-to for mug meals, but this one we found on Instagram is a little more versatile than the breakfast-only omelette in a cup.


5. Lasagna in a mug.

Is there any more labor-intensive meal than lasagna? First you cook the noodles, then the meat, then you bake it all -- but not so with this mug option for Spinach Ricotta Lasagna from Healthy Nibbles and Bits. Delicious and easy!
