Olympic Song Slammed for Sounding a Too Similar to a “Frozen” Favorite

The song "Let it Go" is famous for driving parents of "Frozen"-obsessed kids a little bit crazy, but now the song is stirring up a new kind of controversy, albeit indirectly.

As The New York Times reports, one of the 10 official songs for the 2022 Winter Olympics is getting some unwelcome attention because it sounds a lot like the famed "Frozen" hit sung by Elsa in Disney's modern classic. "The Snow and Ice Dance," composed for the Beijing games, has been drawing unfavorable comparisons to "Let it Go." Take a listen:

Commenters on the YouTube page (the ones we can read in English) say "Let it Go" throughout, and even mention Idina Menzel and Demi Lovato, who both do versions of "Let it Go" on the official soundtrack. There are also quite a few mentions of "copycat" and "plagiarism."
