Officer’s Gesture to Pregnant Woman Will Renew Your Faith in Humanity

We love a good heartwarmer that involves a police officer helping a pregnant woman who could use an extra pair of hands. Bonus points that it involves helping a military family.

Seattle-area woman Amby Johnson, who is 38 weeks pregnant and whose husband is in the Navy, was pulled over for having expired plates. She told the police officer it's hard for her to change plates while so pregnant, and she didn't want to ask her husband to help after his long days on the Navy base. Instead of ticketing her, the officer helped her change her plates.

"I truly believe that if you're coming into this line of work it's because you want to make a difference," the police officer, Jim Allen, told local TV channel, KIRO. "You want to work in your community to make it a better place."

For her part, Johnson said it's important to share good police stories these days, too. "You don't hear about the officers who actually do good, but I wanted to be one of the people to give credit when it's due," adding: "Just see the story for what it is. A good officer helping out a woman. No race.'"
