One mother's shocking Facebook post is reminding all of us to slow down and make sure our kids are in their car seats correctly every time we get into the car.

Jenna Casado Rabberman, a Pennsylvania mother of two, posted a photo of her totaled Honda CRV that was left mangled after another driver ran a red light and crashed into her vehicle. She snapped a picture of the wreckage and two unscathed car seats. Her powerful message is hitting home with every parent that has tried to wrangle a child into a car seat.

"THIS is why you buckle your kids into their car seats correctly every SINGLE time. Even when they scream because the straps are tight. Even when they complain about the chest clip or being rear facing," Rabberman writes. Since most states now require children two and under to remain rear facing, it can be a struggle getting them into their car seat.

Because accidents happen so fast and when we least expect it, Rabberman explains how a simple car ride turned into a horrific accident. "We stopped for milk on the way home from preschool yesterday. We were minutes from home. Another car slammed into us. You never think it will happen to you. My boys escaped without a scratch but the paramedics told me it could have been very different had I not taken the extra 2 minutes to be sure they were buckled correctly," she writes on Facebook.

Rabberman's most important message about the accident: "I will be fine, my kids are fine, everything else can be replaced." The post has been shared over 300 thousand times with parents and caregivers commenting on her powerful post.

Sometimes we all need a sobering reminder that even if our kids don't love being in their car seats, the only way to keep them safe, is to strap them in correctly.

If you have a child in a car seat, here's what two paramedics say is the biggest car seat mistake parents are making.
