Mindy Kaling has been pretty quiet about her pregnancy: She hasn't revealed the baby's father, and she hasn't spoken much about the experience outside of a Today interview. But her co-stars have been less tight-lipped, revealing this week that the actress is expecting a daughter. While promoting the final season of "The Mindy Project" on Hulu, Ed Weeks, who plays Dr. Jeremy Reed, talked about the cast's emotional reaction to the news. "We were so thrilled for her," he said. "The show started as a tribute to her mother, who very sadly passed away just as the show is being picked up, and it ends with her having a daughter of her own. It's a lot. When she reminded us all of that, we all cried in the final table read. I mean, Jesus, life! It makes some very interesting and beautiful patterns sometimes."

In July, People reported that Kaling had shared the baby news with her "A Wrinkle in Time" costar Oprah Winfrey in a press line. "My mouth dropped," Winfrey said. "She said, 'Oh Oprah, I don't think you know, I'm five months pregnant.' And I said, 'Whaaaat?!'"

In her Today interview with Willie Geist, Kaling says she is "really excited" about becoming a mom, and plans to learn from her own mom's example. "My mom was incredibly fierce and so devoted to us, just loved us and really wanted us to be happy to matter what we did," she said. "If I could give that to my child, just that open-mindedness, I'd be so happy."
