Santa’s Chocolate & Butterscotch Chip Cookie Ingredient Mason Jar Holiday Gifts

These mason jars, containing the dry ingredients needed to make Georgetown Cupcake's Santa's Chocolate & Butterscotch Chip cookies, make the perfect holiday gift for the home baker.

Include a holiday card containing the recipe below! Your lucky recipient will just need to add butter, eggs, and vanilla for delicious chewy holiday cookies, perfect for Santa!

Makes 3 Dozen Cookies

Ingredients:
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup butter (2 sticks)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup dark brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon McCormick vanilla
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 cup butterscotch chips*

*If you don't like butterscotch, you can substitute the butterscotch chips with more chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, white chocolate chips, or dried cranberries!


To Assemble Mason Jars:
  1. Combine flour, baking soda, and salt and pour into a large glass mason jar.
  2. Pour in half of the chocolate chips and butterscotch chips to form an even layer above the flour.
  3. Pour in granulated sugar and brown sugar in alternating layers above the chocolate chips.
  4. Pour in the remaining half of the chocolate chips and butterscotch chips.
  5. Seal with a mason jar lid and cover with a square piece of burlap or fabric, and tie with a ribbon or twine.
  6. The key to assembling the jars is to use the chocolate chip layers to firmly separate the sugars from the flour layers, so that they can easily be separated when pouring out.
  7. Add a recipe card with a sweet greeting for the perfect holiday gift for the home baker!
Directions
  1. Open jar and separate ingredients into 3 bowls: 1) chocolate and butterscotch chips, 2) granulated sugar and brown sugar, and 3) flour, baking soda, and salt.
  2. Preheat oven to 350 and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. In the bowl of a stand mixer, cream together butter, granulated sugar and brown sugar for approximately 5-7 minutes.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, beating slowly after each addition.
  5. Add vanilla extract and mix thoroughly.
  6. Sift the flour, baking soda and salt together with a whisk and add slowly in thirds, mixing after each addition.
  7. Add the chocolate chips and butterscotch* chips and mix until incorporated.
  8. Using a mini ice cream scoop, scoop small cookie balls 4 inches apart.
  9. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until cookies are a golden brown.
  10. Serve warm and enjoy!
