Learn to Make Italian Style Donuts, Zeppoles With the Cake Boss for #NationalDonutDay

We're celebrating #NationalDonutDay, Cake Boss style with these Italian style donuts! Here is a fun and easy recipe for the whole family to enjoy!

Zeppoles

  • 3 1/4 cups of all-purpose flour
  • Using a dough hook on the mixer
  • Add a pinch of salt
  • Add 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • Blooming the yeast in the dough
    • Take water that is about 110 degrees
    • Sprinkle yeast lightly on top & let it sink in to the water
    • Add a tablespoon of sugar
    • Let sit - this is added into the dough instead of the warm water to make it rise
  • Mix until a ball is formed
  • Take the ball & place on a flour lined counter/cutting board
  • Knead the dough & then add to a mixing bowl
  • Flatten the dough down
  • Add olive oil to the top so it doesn't stick
  • Smooth out the olive oil around the dough so it doesn't get a crust
  • Cover the dough & let rest for 45 min
  • Cut pieces of dough & fry in vegetable oil - temperature at 350 degrees
  • Fry until golden brown
  • Add to a bag & shake with powdered sugar
