Today is National Stress Awareness Day and it comes at a perfect time since we often left feeling at the end of the week we have so much to do and never enough time. So before you take the stress of this week into the weekend, try these tips to destress now.

Treat Yourself-Whether it's a cup of coffee, a sweet treat, or maybe small gift for yourself, take some joy in the little things and treat yourself at the end of the week. You worked hard and you deserve it and taking a small break from your hectic day can help reduce stress.

Get Moving- Take some time to get moving and clear your head. Lace up your sneakers and go for a walk or run. If you workout, hit the gym or take a yoga class. A little fresh air and getting your body moving will instantly destress you.

Eat a Snack- When you're stressed you might be tempted to dive right into a bag of chips or devour every piece of chocolate you can find. Before you start stress eating, enjoy a healthy snack instead that will fill you up, but be sure to snack away from your phone, computer, and work. In just a few minutes you'll feel better and be happier about your food choices.

Get a Jump on Your Weekend- Saying you want to start your weekend early might mean leaving work and kicking back until Monday morning so you can forget all the stress of the week. But let's be honest, weekends can be just as stressful because of our long to-do list, and we're already tired and over stressed from the work week. To destress at the end of the week, take a look at your to-do list and see what you really must get done this weekend, if you can find a way to push some things back to next week, or find some help to get everything done. When you know you can tackle everything with a little help and extra time, you can ease into the weekend rather than carry over weekday stress.

Get a Good Laugh- You know all of those silly cat videos that make you laugh out loud. Find one now! Research shows that a good laugh will instantly reduce your stress. So search for those laughing baby videos, dogs wearing funny costumes, and cats doing silly things, it's for your health!
