How to Make Mason Jar Easter Cupcakes

This Easter, put a spin on regular cupcakes and serve these colorful cakes in mason jars. This cupcake in a jar is the perfect Easter dessert because the presentation is adorable and you don't have to be "The Cake Boss" to make this simple and yummy cake.

What You'll Need:

2 boxes of white cake mix (and all the ingredients the mix calls for)

Pint-size Mason Jars

White buttercream frosting

Food coloring

3 small cake pans

Sprinkles

Plastic sandwich bags

Icing decorating tips (optional)

What You'll Do:

Follow the directions on the cake mix and spilt the batter into three equal parts. Use a few drops food coloring to change the batter to spring inspired colors. For these cakes, I used green, pink and purple. Be sure to mix the color thoroughly or the cake will turn out spotted. Bake the cakes according to the directions on the cake mix box.

Fill a plastic sandwich bag with icing, seal, and cut off one corner. Now you have your own icing decorating bag!

Once cakes have cooled completely, cut the cakes into small squares and cut off any parts that turned brown.

Add a small layer green cake to each jar and use a spoon to push the cake down. Add a thin layer of frosting around the inside of the jar just above the green cake.

Then add a layer of the pink cake, push it down, and top with a layer of frosting.

Finish with a layer of purple cake. If you have an icing decorating tip, cut off the corner of another sandwich bag and slide the decorating tip through the hole. Fill the bag with icing and cover the tops of the jars with icing.

Top off with sprinkles, grab a spoon, and enjoy this yummy dessert.
