Birthdays are an important day for every kid, but not every kid gets the luxury of a birthday party. How do you have a birthday party if you don't have a home to have it in (or the means to have it somewhere else)? One amazing charity is working to fix that problem.

That charity is called, fittingly, The Birthday Party Project, and it initially started with the aim of providing a birthday party for every homeless child in Texas (it's based in Addison, Texas). Now it's gaining nationwide attention and is working with other states with its mission of "bringing joy to homeless children through the magic of birthdays."

Our parties can build self esteem, confidence, and assurance in the midst of uncertainty. Because #joychangeslives

Paige Chenault, the founder of the project, had been a career event planner who was getting excited about planning a birthday party for her child when it occurred to her that even those without means deserved to be recognized and have their special moment.

Now all across the country, her Birthday Party Project Enthusiasts head to homeless shelters to celebrate the birthdays of the kids born in that month.

"My goal is that each child feels something that lets them know how important they are, how much they matter," Chenault told Today.com. "They deserve to be celebrated, that in this moment of chaos in their life, this moment of confusion, that there is light and that there are people out there cheering for them."

People who donate have the ability to have their donation go toward cupcakes, gift for the birthday child, decorations and favors, or the entire party, depending on level of donation.
