As we've already learned, hot drinks can help relieve cold symptoms. And, if you're going to sip on a brewed drink, green tea is your best bet. It has antiviral properties, and one study found that health care workers consuming green tea extract were less likely to come down with the flu. Those results were replicated with a 2011 study showing that children drinking tea (between 1-5 cups a day) were less likely to get the flu, too. And if you have a bad cough, add some honey to your tea, which may reduce nighttime coughing.
