No matter where you travel in America, you'll hear rich accents that are distinct to areas across our country. Usually these accents pinpoint where someone has grown up, even if they haven't lived there for years. So of all the accents in America, which one is considered the most attractive sounding?

According to a new study, when ranking all of the accents in America, the Southern accent is the clear favorite. For the study, 1,216 Americans over the age of 18 were asked a series of questions about accents and which they favored. Participants in the study were provided nine different options that ranged from specific regions--like the South-- to well-known dialects in particular cities--like New York.

Bless their hearts, the winner was clear. Americans love a good Southern accent. With their distinct dialect and fun phrases like "knee-high to a grasshopper," it's no wonder people love a Southern accent. In fact, it took the lead with 18 percent of the vote.

Don't worry Texas, your accent wasn't far behind with 12 percent of the vote. However, third place was a tie--New York and Boston, who tend to be rivals, but for this contest, they share a spot with 7 percent of the vote.

The Midwest and West coast tied for fourth place, with 6 percent of the vote, and Appalachia came in fifth with 3 percent.

So what accent was voted the least attractive? Turns out, it was the infamous Chicago accent that rounded out the bottom with just 2% of the vote. But don't fret Chicago, we still love your beautiful city and your delicious pizza.

What do you think of the results? Tell us in the comments which accent is your clear winner?
