1. Yosemite Park

There are a variety of scenic road trips you can take on your way to Yosemite Park in California. From gorgeous California coastal drives, through the vineyards and rolling hills of wine country, there is plenty to see on your way to Yosemite National Park.

2. Horseshoe Bend

Horseshoe Bend is a bend in the Colorado River located near the town of Page, AZ. You can hike a 1.5-mile round trip from U.S. Route 89 to reach the bend, which you can see from a lookout point located on a cliff.

3. Glacier National Park, Montana

Located in Montana's Rocky Mountains, sports peaks and valleys up to the Canadian border. Backpack or cycle to Hidden Lake and camp under the stars. Glacier National Park is home to both mountain goats and grizzly bears.

4. Shenandoah National Park, Virginia

Skyline Drive runs the length of Shenandoah National Park, located along the Blue Ridge Mountains. The park is mostly forested although it also features wetlands, waterfalls, and rocky peaks. Watch for wildlife that includes many bird species, plus deer, squirrels and black bears.

5. Natural Bridges, Utah

The first national monument in Utah, made up of three natural bridges, can be seen from the road on a scenic drive. But you might prefer to take a closer look by hiking the 8.6-mile loop hiking trail that will take you past all three bridges. These natural bridges were carved into the canyon walls by water, which has long-since receded.

6. Santa Monica, California

Santa Monica is a coastal city with gorgeous beaches on the Pacific Ocean. Visit the famous Santa Monica Pier, which is home to the iconic Pacific Park amusement park. Muscle Beach is the outdoor gym located next to the pier. You can drive up the Pacific Coast Highway to take in the views. Visit Malibu Creek State Park to partake in hiking, fishing, bird watching, mountain biking, rock climbing and horseback riding.

Wherever you decide to go this summer, we hope these beautiful photos provided some ideas and inspiration for your next trip. Happy travels!
