Actress Emmy Rossum married writer/director Sam Esmail on the Sunday before Memorial Day at New York's Central Synagogue. The couple said their vows under a Raul Avila-designed huppah in front of 130 guests and then celebrated with a reception at the Guggenheim. But while every detail of the day sounds like a fairy tale, from the custom-printed New York Times page Esmail created for the proposal to the celebrity guest list at the reception, one part of the wedding has everyone buzzing: Rossum's stunning Carolina Herrara wedding gown.

Rossum told Vogue that Herrera was her first and only choice for a designer when it came time to choose a wedding gown. "I knew I'd be getting married at the temple, which is quite grand," she says, "and that the reception would be at the Guggenheim, so we knew that it needed to be a dress that could hold up to that. And it was Mrs. Herrera's idea to make it quite modern and fresh, and kind of use the shape of the Guggenheim on the bodice."

The swooping fabric on the bodice of the off-the-shoulder dress is accented with beading on the sleeves and around the bride's waist. "The shape and the overlays on the bodice feel really modern to me at the same time as the scale and overall silhouette feels traditional," Rossum says. She accessorized the gown with Fred Leighton jewelry, a cathedral length train, and Paul Andrew pumps.

Rossum loved the dress so much that she didn't even consider changing for the party afterward: "It's the one time you get to wear it," she tells Vogue. "I was happy wearing this dress until the wee hours of the morning."
