When the temperatures rise, everyone is looking to stay cool. So instead of sweating it out, try these hacks to cool down your car, house, dog, and even your kids.

Keep yourself and the kids cool with these hacks:

  • In a small travel spray bottle, mix water and a little mint or lavender for a travel cooling face mist. Pop it in the fridge or freezer before you leave the house.
  • Make this cooling necklace for kids that are too hot when they're outside.
  • To cool down quickly, apply ice to your wrists and the back of your knees.

Getting into a sweltering car is miserable. Here's two hacks to cool down your car quickly:

The Door Hack- Start by rolling down one window. On the opposite side, quickly open and shut the door a few times. While it seems a little crazy, you are actually pushing out a lot of the hot air that has been sitting inside your car. When you turn on the AC, it won't have to work so hard to cool the air inside.

Open all the Windows Hack- Start by rolling down all the windows in your car and turning on the AC to the coldest fresh air setting. Don't hit the recirculate setting yet. Keep the windows down for a few minutes while you drive, and when the air in the car begins to cool, switch from fresh air setting to the recirculated air setting for a comfy and cool ride.

Get your house to a comfortable temperature during hot days and nights with these tricks:

  • Hack an air conditioner by positioning a shallow pan or bowl full of ice cubes in front of a fan for an icy breeze
  • Stay cool all night by dampening a sheet or towel in cool water and use it as a blanket.
  • Put a few freezer packs on your bed and pillows for a few minutes before for a cooled bed.

We aren't the only ones trying to beat the heat. Here's a few hacks for keeping your dog cool and comfortable.

  • Using the back of your hand, feel the pavement. If it's too hot to touch, it's too hot for your dog to walk on. Stick to the grass and shaded areas for quick walks early in the morning or at night. Skip those mid-day walks.
  • Mix together peanut butter and water and freeze for a pup popsicles your dog will love and will keep them hydrated.
  • Cover your dog with a white t-shirt to provide shade and sun protection, and grab coconut water--a good source of electrolytes--after walks.
