There are a lot of decisions that have to be made when you build a home. From the type of flooring to which upgrades you are willing to shell out the big bucks. While builders see their fair share of home trends come and go, it's the newest trend that dog owners are requesting that we are seriously jealous of--a shower just for your dog.

A recent New York Times report said the dog shower trend is on the rise and becoming just as common as adding a powder room. "The fact is, when you walk a dog, whether you're out in fields or walking on the sidewalks, your dogs pick up salt and mud," Ken Malian, an owner of GreenRose Fine Homes and Design in New Jersey, told the New York Times.

And that is exactly why Malian says he is building two homes with dog showers. One of the dog showers will be located in a mudroom off the kitchen and the other is in a three-car garage. So no matter where Fido comes into the home, his muddy paws will get a quick scrub before he can make a mess inside. Seriously, I love this idea and now I want a shower in the garage for my dog---and maybe my kids too. Actually they can just share.

Just like shiplap has become common in home d?cor, dog showers seem to be a common request for new homes. But adding a doggie spa can come with a hefty price tag and can costs around $5,000 depending on the materials used.

So we want to hear from you! Tell us in the comments if you love or loathe the idea of a dog shower Would you pay to add one to your home or are you just going to continue to share your bed, couch and shower with your dog.
