Welcome to #TaiTalksTrends where "Dare to Wear" host Tai Beauchamp dishes out her best fashion advice!

Plaids, florals, palm trees and paisleys alike may seem frightening (or just way too 1973) at first glance. I understand! -- I've had my share of print reservation in the past. That was until I realized, infusing playful or powerful prints into your look is the easiest way to take an otherwise monochromatic or lackluster look from drab to an instant on-trendsation. As I mention in my book, wearing any of these hot summer trends means that you have fully embraced summer barbecue and beach moments. When done right, and of course in moderation, prints can be ultra-flattering. Here, 5 tips for working your print and pattern magic!

1. Go easy!
Opt for an easy-to-wear pattern shirt or blouse and pair it with your favorite jean...or go for a patterned pant and pair it with a denim shirt. You choose.

WHY IT WORKS: The pattern is a stand-out on it's own. When styled with denim or even casual pants, the look is relaxed but stylish. For an added punch, pair the look with a bold-colored purse or shoe.

2. It's in the bag...or shoe!

WHY IT WORKS: If you are reluctant to try actual patterned dress or pant, printed bags or shoes allow you to incorporate the trend with ease.

3. Just add a floral jacket or kimono. I'm personally a fan of botanic print pants. But floral bomber-style jackets or kimonos can be worn (and taken off) with ease.

WHY IT WORKS: A topper can either be thrown over your shoulders or worn on a brisk night. When you make your entrance, your style is evident.

4. Beach blossoms! Wear a solid swimsuit but jazz it up with a patterned coverup, kaftan or sarong.

WHY IT WORKS: Coverups are essential for outings at the pool or beach. These prints are often bolder and brighter and help make you (and summer) sizzle and get noticed even more.

5. Neutral of darker colors make prints even easier!

WHY IT WORKS: If you are still not excited to try prints in a stand-out color just yet, opt for a more neutral or darker print. A neutral floral-patterned maxi dress can complement your skin tone and is effortless to pull off.

And there's an added benefit: When paired with a solid flowy cardigan and military boots, the look transitions well into fall.
