Summer is a time for kids to run and play outside with their friends and not worry about completing homework. However, since school is no longer in session, it is important to continue their learning process during the summer months. A great way to keep your kids mind working is by reading books! In order to help you find the best reads, we have compiled the best children's books that every kid should read this summer!

Happy by Pharrell Williams

"Pharrell Williams brings his beloved song to the youngest of readers in photographs of children across cultures celebrating what it means to be happy." This is a great book to have kids gain a better understanding of various cultures and the true meaning behind happiness.

Drawn Together by Minh Le

When a young boy visits his grandfather and finds out they don't speak a common language, they start communicating through their art. "As they sit down to draw together, something magical happens-with a shared love of art and storytelling, the two form a bond that goes beyond words."

Ocean Meets Sky by Terry Fan

A young boy named Finn sets out to find a place that his grandpa used to tell him about; the spot where the ocean meets the sky. He builds a ship and begins an adventure that takes him to unexpected places. This is a story of adventure, self-discovery, and a longing curiosity about the world.

Gerdaline by Elizabeth Lilly

When a giraffe decides to attend a human school, she quickly realizes she is not like everyone else. Like many kids today, she felt left out and confused about her identity. Join her journey as she learns to embrace herself, stand out in the crowd, and make new friends.

She Persisted Throughout the World: 13 Women Who Changed History by Chelsea Clinton

This picture book tells the stories of inspiring women who persisted and spoke out for what they believed in. It is a great message to young girls to never give up and chase after their dreams. "Perfect for tiny activists, mini feminists and little kids who are ready to take on the world."

This book is the epitome of #girlpower. I saw this in the bookstore yesterday and it was love at first sight. I didn't end up getting it, though, but I guess it was meant to be because I now have my own copy, thanks to Ms. Honey @fantaghiro23 . :) I've never felt more "kilig" about a book in my entire life - and that was just from seeing the cover and the title. After going through the whole book, I liked how much of an easy read it was. The information about the thirteen women are simple and straight to the point, yet they make you more curious to learn about them. Aside from using this in an English class, the women featured here could also serve as a springboard for various subjects such as Science, CLE, and World History. Literature-based instruction is such a wonderful thing, don't you agree? There is a whole treasure trove of resources out there - you just have to know where to look. ? #lithappens #bookstagram #bookworm #bookreview #litlearnlove #shepersisted #shepersistedaroundtheworld #chelseaclinton
