Go inside a day in the life of the busy Busbys!

This blog was written for TLCme by Danielle Busby of It's A Buzz World. Danielle and her husband Adam star on TLC's "OutDaughtered."

Adam and I went from being parents of four-year old Blayke to parents of six daughters overnight. It was and still is not easy. Two of the most asked questions that we get are: "How do you do it?" and "How do you seem so calm?". We always laugh at these questions now, but they were real questions we asked ourselves when we found out that we were pregnant with quintuplets. There was not a whole lot of information out there or any "how to" books on raising one daughter plus quintuplets. But we did know one thing: We had already raised one pretty amazing little girl through the age of four, so we asked ourselves what can we take away from that?

The biggest thing that we have understood from raising Blayke was that keeping her on a schedule was key! Adam and I both worked full time jobs when we had Blayke and the schedule we implemented for her made everything way more predictable. It also helped make it easy for someone to help out if needed. Blayke slept through the night at 10 weeks old, eats just about anything (even to this day), and she is all around a happy child. Naturally, we knew that a schedule would be our best shot at raising quintuplets.

I pulled up Blayke's schedule when she was a baby and went from there. I, of course, had to adjust things since the quints required more special attention, like multiple medicines throughout the day. We implemented a EAT/WAKE/SLEEP schedule and stuck to it - no matter what. Below is a glimpse of what the Quints' 3-hour schedule looked like in the beginning.

The schedule allowed us to know when we had down time to do other necessary things: washing bottles, laundry, cleaning house, playing with Blayke, napping, etc. Though the quints' schedule has changed as they have grown older, it has been a huge success! So when people ask "How do you stay so calm?" we answer: a schedule!
